About Me

Snapshot Bio:

I am an ACE Certified fitness professional and hold a degree in Organizational Interpersonal Communications.  I have been married for 14 years to Steve and have three sons, Jadon who is 8 and Austin and Brock who are 4.  I write from the heart as well as from the unique experiences I have had ranging from: overcoming chronic back pain, dealing with disease and cancer, coping with my children’s various medical emergencies and hospitalizations, moving multiple times within the US as well as to Australia with my family (no less twin toddlers!) and finally navigating through the rebuilding of my marriage with my husband.

Why ‘Wholistically’ YOU?

I believe we achieve wellness and vitality when our whole person: spirit, soul and body are in balance and health.  If one part of us is not being nurtured, we cannot obtain full optimal wellness.  For we are not just a body or just a soul or just a spirit, but we embody all three in our whole person.

My Motivation:

We all have two sides to our story that we share with the world.  One is the logistical story encompassing the roles we play, our credentials, what we ‘do’ for a living, etc..  But we also have the story, or rather the journey that shaped us into who we are today: our life experiences, the messages we put around them and how we process them back out into the world around us through our attitude and actions.  When I was 18, I came across the book called Hinds Feet on High Places by Hanna Hurnard.  This book was such an operative book at that time in my life as it helped me discover who I was and what it was that I continued to wrestle with in life.  It also became a ‘lifeline’ to me that I revisited through the ups and downs of my life.   It is about a young girl who is ‘Much-Afraid’, but discovers who she is capable of becoming along the journey to the high places.   At the end of the book, it reads,

“She began to understand quite clearly that truth cannot be understood by books alone or by any written words, but only by personal growth and development in understanding, and that things written even in the Book of Books can be astonishingly misunderstood while one still lives on the low levels of spiritual experience and on the wrong side of the grave on the mountains.”

It was the grave on the mountains where she had a paradigm shift and her entire perspective changed.  It was there she realized that all the trials she faced in life could be turned around and used for her benefit and the benefit of those around her.   From that moment on, she was empowered to influence herself and the world around her no matter what circumstance she would face.

This blog site is inspired from the lessons I have learned (many times the hard way!) and continue to learn from my own journey in discovering wellness and vitality for my spirit, soul and body through fitness, nutrition, and personal development.  My hope is that readers will learn tips and tools to wellness and vitality, as well as be inspired and motivated to discover their own personal journey toward optimal health for themselves and their loved ones.

Although I am not a Doctor or a Therapist, I believe the lessons I have learned and continue to learn along the way of my ‘health’ journey are not only literally saving my life but are setting me up for optimal health and longevity.
